Of course, you need to factor in the complexity of your plumbing system, but in general... Here’s what I recommend:

🔹 Danner 1200 → Best for 1/2 HP chillers (Active Aqua, EcoPlus, Penguin (not my primary choice))

How to Set Up Your Cold Plunge Pump

Setting up your Danner 950 or 1200 is simple. Here’s what you’ll need:

🔧 Fittings & Parts:

  • 3/4" Male Threaded x Socket Fitting

  • 3/4" Female Threaded x Socket Fitting

  • 3/4" Flexible Spa Hose

  • Additional Fittings Including Unions, Ball Valves & more depending on your plumbing design.

Priming Your Pump is Critical

🚨 Important: These pumps are fed by gravity. They are really good at pushing water but they can’t pull water or create suction on their own.

That means they must be primed before turning them on (you can't just drape a hose over the edge of your tank and plug it in).

"Primed" means is that there is water flowing freely to the pump without any obstruction 👍

Common Reasons Your Pump Loses Prime & How to Fix It:

❌ Blockages – Pre-filters or debris clogging the intake
🔄 Backflow Pressure – Caused by a dirty filter (change it!)
💨 Air Locks – Happens after draining and refilling the tank

Quick Fix for Air Locks:

1️⃣ Disconnect the inlet hose on your chiller
2️⃣ Let the trapped air escape
3️⃣ Reattach & restart the pump

What to Do If Your Pump Face Breaks (Easy Fix!)

The only weak point of Danner pumps is the faceplate, which can crack if:

🔹 You over-tighten the fittings
🔹 You bump or drop the pump during installation

Luckily, replacing the faceplate is a super easy fix! You’ll just need:
