My wife and I are in our mid to late sixties. Our cold plunge journey started when our grown children would cut a whole in the ice in a northern Michigan lake close to our house and do their cold soaks. After a few years I saw it wasn’t a passing fad so, with Joe’s help, I built one for our lower back patio. Our cold plunge has been activity we have all enjoyed when family comes over. Sauna, cold plunge, sauna, cold plunge. Joes videos are top notch. And with his plans and advice I was not only able to build a cold plunge but also great family memories that will last a lifetime. My wife and I love it, my grown children love it and, yes, even our older grandkids love it. Thanks Joe!!
This was a great project and The instructions were thorough and the videos very helpful. The end product is way nicer than most commercial products at a fraction of the price. Very worth it even for an experienced DIYer like me. I still need to finish my cedar lid cover.
I was pretty confident in myself going into this build when it came to reading plans and following instructions step by step. But what I didn’t realize is there would be a VIDEO included with the plans showing me how to complete each step! That video made this sauna build a BREEZE!!!! There was never any second guessing myself on the build process or the plans because Joe had everything explained in the video. Be confident in yourself, Joe makes this build so easy!
As far as the sauna, I love it! I built the XL version and it’s plenty big for me. I’m 6’3”, 205 pounds. I’m even able to do a little stretching while I’m toasting myself at 195°F. Build this sauna, you won’t regret it!!
These plans were incredibly detailed and easy to follow. The supply list (with clickable links!) made gathering materials a breeze, and the included videos offered clear, helpful guidance every step of the way.
It actually turned out to be a great couples project! My husband and I worked on it together, and anytime we had a question—no arguments needed—we just paused and watched the video 😄.
And the results? Beautiful. Our DIY cold plunge looks super polished sitting next to the deck—clean, solid, and way better than we imagined. We’re so proud of how it turned out!
