Once you get a sense of the plans, the opportunities to customize become available. My sauna took about 35 hours to build and sits at about 170 degrees. A great project and a great investment in personal health.
This wouldn't be the first time I'm using Joe's plans to build something. A few years ago, I also built a cold plunge which was super easy to follow and straightforward when it came to simplifying everything. This time around there was a lot more woodworking, but it was fun and again easy to assemble and build. It also required me to get some tools that I never had, which is always fun to learn new skills. Thanks again, Joe.
I’m not a handyman by any stretch of the imagination, but this DIY sauna heater kit was surprisingly easy for me to put together. I installed it in an old infrared sauna as the new heat source and paired it with four 400-watt HotBox sauna bulbs, which give you heat, infrared light therapy, and red-light therapy; basically the best of all worlds in one setup. I just gave it the first test run and everything worked perfectly.
The instructions were solid and the video walkthrough was extremely helpful. Even though not every step is verbalized, the pictures and visuals make it easy enough to follow along and understand where everything goes. One small clarification: the instructions mention pre-drilling the holes in the front of the cedar frame, but they don’t mention pre-drilling the holes in the back as well. Luckily the video showed it clearly, so it wasn’t a big deal.
It definitely took me a little longer than it probably should have, and I even needed someone to help me assemble the cedar square, but the overall build was still very doable for someone with minimal DIY experience.
My only real regret is that I missed the Black Friday deal by about three days — could’ve saved myself some money! So if you’re reading this around Black Friday or Cyber Monday, take advantage of the sale.
Overall, I’m really impressed. The kit is solid, the heater performs great, and it turned my old infrared sauna into a much more powerful and versatile setup. Highly recommend.

I'm having a hard time finding words of appreciation that can truly express what a great experience this has been. Easy to follow designs. I'm not super handy but with some patience and attention to details, anyone can follow these instructions.

Above all else... You cannot beat the best customer experience. Joe took time to respond to an email full of questions on Thanksgiving. The packaging was personalized for me. He genuinely wants you to succeed. Thankful for him going above and beyond to make sure you make a great plunge.
I just finished building the XL sauna using plans from DIYColdPlunge and I could not be happier with the experience. This was my first major DIY project and the plans made it unbelievably smooth. Everything was laid out clearly with a full shopping list and direct links to purchase which took all the guesswork out of it.
Even with the cheaper bulbs, the XL sauna reached 170 degrees in about 45 minutes which completely exceeded my expectations. I am already excited to see what kind of performance I get once I upgrade the bulbs.
What really blew me away was the customer service. Joe answered every one of my many questions and was there to help the entire way through. You do not see that level of support very often.
If you are considering building your own sauna whether you are experienced or a total beginner, I highly recommend these plans.

After using Joe’s plans to build the plumbing for my cold plunge, I was excited to see these for a DIY sauna. I just finished the project and had my first sauna session! The plans, videos, and thoughtfulness that went into them were outstanding. Can’t recommend them enough if you are considering a DIY sauna project. I purchased the DIY heater kit as well and am very pleased with the quality and effectiveness of the heater!! Researched all different saunas for several months. Went with DIY Sauna because I wanted a sauna to get up to 175 where most of the research on sauna's health benefits were tested. Started w/ a pile of lumber on Friday at 3pm and finished my first sauna on Sunday at 8pm. A large chunk of that time was watching YouTube videos on how to use my new miter saw, brad nailer, and jigsaw. Love the sauna, can't recommend more. Plans were great. Videos were great. All the pieces were there, everything works even better than was expecting. Just get it, you'll love it.
Well thought out plans and accompanying video guide. Everything fit together perfectly despite my somewhat imperfect cuts. Took me about 2 days start to finish and I'm very handy. My wife loves it which was all I was hoping for. Some tips: get the right tools for the job and it will be a lot easier. There are a lot of cuts and pocket holes to drill. Get a rhythm going and think of it like a factory. Do like tasks together.
